The Electronic Beacon
Welcome to the e-Beacon
The Electronic Beacon is a resource for clergy and laity in the Diocese of Northern Indiana as well as interested people from around the world. It takes its name from the former newspaper of the diocese, The Beacon.
Beacon imagery is prominent in the diocesan seal. The seal depicts a lighthouse as the northwest corner of the diocese includes the Lake Michigan shoreline. Below the lighthouse is the motto "το φως των ανθρωπων", which in Greek means "the light of men". This is taken from the prologue of the Gospel According to St. John.
The Electronic Beacon (or e-Beacon) will provide a parallel series of pages to the diocese's main web portal, www.ednin.org, which is based upon Moodle software. The e-Beacon providers users with cleaner navigation as topics are arranged in a series of drop-down menus in the red navigation bar along the top.
The section entitled About Us is a good starting point for those unfamiliar with the diocese. This section gives short profiles of the diocesan staff, a map of the diocese, contact information for the diocese as well as for its parishes and missions, an explanation of the diocese's core values, and pages dedicated to various diocesan ministries.
The section entitled Resources goes into further detail. This section gives information on various committees and commissions as well as diocesan convention. Parish secretaries and vestries will find helpful forms and documents in this section. Participants in the Congregational Development Institute of Northern Indiana will find their assignments and program information here. Resources for prayer are available, including the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, Cycle of Prayer for Honduras, Anglican Cycle of Prayer, the Daily Office, and the Book of Common Prayer. You will also note prayers on the bottom of each page of the e-Beacon. Please take time to pray during your visit to our site. Lastly, this section includes links to sites of interest.
The section entitled News & Events includes a calendar of events and the both the current issue and archives of Around Our Diocese, the diocese's monthly newsletter.
The section entitled Bishop's Pages is a catalogue of Bishop Little's various writings, reflections, articles, and addressses. This section also includes links to important documents such as the Windsor Report and the Anglican Covenant.
