Book Study: St. John of the Cross, Bristol has invited the other Elkhart County parishes to join them in a book study beginning on Thursday, September 9th at 6:30 PM EDT. The Rev. Corinne Hodges will lead the study on Philip Yancey’s “What’s So Amazing About Grace?” Please contact the parish directly for more details.
Canoe/Kayak Trip: St. Michael & All Angels, South Bend will host a canon and kayak trip on Sunday, September 19th. The group will meet at the parish for lunch at 11:00 AM EDT and depart for Dowagiac at 11:45. There will be canoes, one-person and two-person kayaks available. The cost is $15 per person (children under 12 free if accompanied by two adults in a canoe).
Walking for Peace: Most of us will always remember where we were on September 11, 2001 when we heard the news of the attack on the World Trade Center. For most Americans, we have lived in a time when our nation was at war in one form or another. Will we ever have peace?
Trinity, Fort Wayne will sponsor a labyrinth walk on Saturday, September 11th at 6:00 PM EDT to remember the victims of 9/11 and to discover a path for peace in our lives as individuals. Please contact Nancy McCammon-Hansen at nmccammonhansen@frontier.com for more details.
Celebrando Honduras: St. Alban's, Fort Wayne will host the Rev. Barbara Boghetich of San Lucus in Delicias Del Norte, Honduras to celebrate the companion relationship between the Dioceses of Northern Indiana and Honduras. The evening will begin with a reception at 5:30 pm with dinner following at 6:00 pm. Over the past few years our diocese and the Diocese of Honduras have partnered to help build stoves, pillas, and a new water treatment facility. Please join us in welcoming Reverend Boghetich, learn more about this ministry, and the wonderful people with whom we are companions in Christ.
Pilgrimage: The final dates for the diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land have been set—February 22nd to March 3rd, 2011. Please register as soon as possible to guarantee your seat. Blueberry Festival: St. Andrew's-by-the-Lake and Trinity parishes in Michigan City joined for their first Blueberry Festival in July. The event featured a performance by the Community Children's Choir, a ministry of Trinity Church.
Jubilee Ministry: Camp New Happenings, a camp for the children of prisoners sponsored by the diocese, has received designation as a Jubilee Ministry of the Episcopal Church. The camp joins St. Margaret's House in South Bend as our second such ministry.
