Welcome to Camp New Happenings!

In 2008, the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana, sponsored the first annual Camp New Happenings in conjunction with ecumenical partners. The mission of the camp is to provide the pre-teen children of prisoners with an opportunity to experience God's gifts of nature, kindness, and togetherness by sharing hopes and dreams within a positive camping experience. In 2009, the camp was held a second time serving over three times as many children.

In 2010, the camp will be held again at Camp Alexander Mack in Milford, Indiana from July 11 to the 17th. We are looking forward to it! Children who live in northern Indiana from the ages of 8 to 11 with at least one incarcerated parent were eligible to attend. There was no cost to the participants of the camp and transportation was provided.

Please take your time and browse the website. As the Camp continues to grow, so will this site. It will serve as a connection for former campers to Camp New Happenings Community and as conduit for volunteer involvement. More information about Camp New Happenings can be found on this fact sheet, this brochure and this brochure. Potential campers are encouraged to read this information letter.

Sunday, February 28th, 2010 was designated as Camp New Happenings Sunday in the Diocese of Northern Indiana as outlined in this letter from the Rt. Rev. Edward S. Litte II, Bishop. This was the third year in which such a Sunday was designated and gifts this year totalled over $7,000.00.
