Welcome to Camp New Happenings!

This summer, the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana, sponsored the first annual Camp New Happenings in conjunction with ecumenical partners. The mission of the camp is to provide the pre-teen children of prisoners with an opportunity to experience God's gifts of nature, kindness, and togetherness by sharing hopes and dreams within a positive camping experience.

The camp was held at the Sharing Meadows Camp Site in Rolling Prairie, Indiana from August 10th to the 16th. Children who live in northern Indiana from the ages of 8 to 11 with at least one incarcerated parent were eligible to attend. There was no cost to the participants of the camp and transportation was provided.

Camp New Happenings will be held in 2009 at Camp Alexander Mack in Milford, Indiana from July 26 to August 1st.

Please take your time and browse the website. As the Camp continues to grow, so will this site. It will serve as a connection for former campers to Camp New Happenings Community and as conduit for volunteer involvement. More information about Camp New Happenings can be found on this fact sheet as well as this brochure.

Sunday, February 10th, 2008 was designated as Camp New Happenings Sunday in the Diocese of Northern Indiana as outlined in this letter from the Rt. Rev. Edward S. Litte II, Bishop. Donations from that Sunday totaled just over $9,000.00. Thank you to all the generous parishioners of the diocese who made that Sunday such a success.
